Resident Evil title calls RANKED

For reference, here is a video that compiles each title call in game release order:

18. Umbrella Corps

I will give Umbrella Corps this. It is the only Resident Evil game (mainline, remake, or spinoff) that has a title call in the standard version of the game (this is a callout of the remakes that add it back through DLC). However, "Umbrella Corps" has the weakest delivery by far and it is a waste of the first feminine voice to do a Resident Evil title call! We could have emulated The Umbrella Chronicles a little but I guess we don't deserve nice things.

17. Resident Evil: Deadly Silence

You'd think that with my love of "3D" that I'd love hearing "DS" in the Resident Evil voice. You'd be wrong. It does not have the juice, though perhaps that is partially due to the low quality afforded by the platform.

16. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis

We were robbed of hearing "Nemesis" in a cool voice.

15. Resident Evil – Code: Veronica / Resident Evil Survivor 2 – Code: Veronica

These are the same, which is part of why they are so low on the list. More than that, however, is the issue that there is no real effort t

14. Resident Evil: Revelations 2

I wanted to hear "Two.

13. Resident Evil 4

Sadly, RE4 is past the line that separates generally "good" title calls from "bad" ones in the Resident Evil franchise. It just can't bring the juice and that shows most in the "Four" which feels like an afterthought done with leftover energy.

12. Resident Evil 6

Oddly enough, RE6's title call is remarkably subdued and almost somber. It doesn't really fit the game itself but I find it so unique in the grand scheme of title calls that I can't help but love it for what it is.

11. Resident Evil Outbreak: File #2

Adding "File #2" means this title call loses a bit of steam compared to its predecessor, but the overall effort and atmosphere is still remarkably good.

10. Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D

Listen to "3D" and tell me you don't fucking love it. We are all human, it's awesome.

9. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles

The more words you add after a colon, the harder it is to pull off a title call. This game puts everything into the full title and it pulls it off remarkably well. It gives Umbrella the horror it embodies in the games themselves.

8. Resident Evil: Revelations

The magic of this is that "Revelations" is the star, not "Resident Evil." It gives this spinoff a sense that it deserves respect.

7. Resident Evil Zero

Outside of 2, this is the best title call with a number added.

6. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

Smartly sticking to just the main title, this is a simple and classic rendition and you can't fault it for just doing what works.

5. Resident Evil Survivor

A spinoff so high? Yes, if only because I'm very charmed by the emphasis on "DENT" in "Resident Evil" in this version. Maybe not as menacing as others, but this spinoff makes the iconic title call its own.

4. Resident Evil Outbreak

An amazing rendition of the title call that uses a delay of menu selection to hit the player with the surprise "Outbreak." Phenomenal job in a most unexpected place.

3. Resident Evil 2

How do you improve upon Resident Evil? You don't! But adding a gravelly "TWO" manages to still feel menacing.

2. Resident Evil (2002)

Much like the rest of this remake, the update to the title call feels like an homage but meaningful reappraisal of the original.

1. Resident Evil

Classic and unbeatable for a reason.

In conclusion. Capcom should really bring these back!
